Rotating Shifts: 2/2/3 – 5:30p-6:00a

**Contingent on attending school**

JOB SUMMARY:   As directed, the Lab Tech Trainee will perform clerical duties (including but not limited to phone and fax), customary lab functions, run waived and moderate laboratory tests, and appropriately distribute records.

ESSENTIAL TASKS/DUTIES:

1. Learn to perform equipment maintenance
2. Learn to draw and process patient samples.
3. Maintain, process and distribute patient reports, as well other specified documents.
4. Input data and prepare specimen send-outs.
5. Answer and direct phone calls.
6. Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory.
7. Assist in data retrieval for departmental reports.
8. Rotating shifts, float and fill as needed.
9. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License
2. Must have High School diploma or equivalent
3. Must demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn technical procedures involved in Laboratory testing.
4. Excellent Communication skills
5. Good organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities.
6. Must be able to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
7. Commitment to attend school to obtain higher education.
