JOB TITLE:            Dietician Consultant

REPORTS TO:      Chief Operations Officer (COO)

JOB SUMMARY:   Functions as a member of the health care team and ensures that Nutritional needs of patients are met. Provides nutritional care through Screening, assessments, instruction, and implementation of nutritional recommendations.

ESSENTIAL TASKS/DUTIES:

1. Supports the nutritional requirements of patients.
2. Screens and assesses patients to determine nutritional needs as required.
3. Performs dietary instructions and consultations as ordered by
4. Communicates with Medical Staff and nursing services regarding patient food service.
5. Assists in the functional operations of the Nutritional Services
6. Coordinates on the preparation of patient
7. Assists with establishing departmental policies and procedures.
8. Conducts in-service training programs for Nutritional Services Staff.
9. Monitors the stocking, and preparation of food and recommends changes in practices and
10. Participates in Quality Improvement Plan.
11. Follow safety and infection control guidelines and policies for the
12. Maintain confidentiality.
13. Completes a monthly report that includes Date of visit, Tasks completed, in-service provided and problems
14. Performs site visit/s for a minimum of eight (8) hours per month.
15. Be available by phone to provide guidance and recommendations as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or a related food and nutrition field.
2. Abilities in counseling and clinical assessment; effective oral and written communication.
3. Licensed Dietitian in the State of Texas.
4. Two years prior experience of clinical dietetics preferred.
5. Maintains current Professional Liability Insurance.
