JOB TITLE: Admissions Clerk
REPORTS TO: Admissions Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY: The Admissions Clerk will perform all clerical duties related to, admitting and discharging inpatients, outpatients, and emergency patients; as well as handling incoming telephone calls.
ESSENTIAL TASKS/DUTIES:

- Performs all assigned tasks related to admitting patients.
- Performs all assigned tasks related to discharging patients.
- Performs functions related to laboratory, Radiology, and Respiratory services.
- Verifies private insurance; collects deductible and co-payment amounts; and secures pre-certifications, referrals, and authorizations.
- Verifies Worker’s Compensation, Medicare and Medicaid coverage.
- Performs information desk functions, and screens and directs incoming telephone calls.
- Maintains reconcilable balance in the cash drawer.
- Additional Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have a High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a good working knowledge of desktop computers and common office equipment.
- Must demonstrate acceptable spelling and grammatical skills and good interpersonal skills.
- Office experience of at least one year in a similar field is preferred.
- Must demonstrate the ability and willingness to comply with written and verbal instructions.
- Duties require intermittent walking, sitting, standing, pulling, bending, stooping, and reaching to perform tasks and be able to lift objects that may weigh as much as 50 lbs.
