Tyler County Hospital

ESSENTIAL TASKS/DUTIES:   (This list is a succinct summary of core duties only. Other tasks will be assigned)

  1. Coordinates with Revenue Cycle Manager in the billing and collection activities; Assists in the monitor of accounts receivables activity – accurate billing of insurance providers, patients, billing process and procedures
  2. Verify claims submissions, as being correct and making sure they are ready to send to insurance; Resubmits insurance claims and follows up on outstanding insurance as needed
  3. Documents medical billing denials from insurance providers
  4. Engages in posting payments from insurance companies, yellow tickets, misc. income receipts and credit card transactions.
  5. Engages in posing patient charges, maintaining records, and in preparing reports as directed; Inputting all ER codes, charges, and working with the coder to insure accuracy
  6. Assists Indigent Care Coordinator with new applicants and continual eligibility for clients for Indigent Care services, reviewing and verify data on application, and ensuring to regulations, policies and procedures. Oversees all claims for recipients involved in the program.
  7. Makes appointments as needed, prepares required reports, completes essential research, and completes all pertinent forms and application involved in the approval process.
  8. Coordinates activities as required, with other facilities and entities, such as Medicaid, TCH, TCH Family Medical and UTMB; Responds to question from patients, insurance companies, lawyers and hospital departments.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have Drivers License
  2. Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
  3. Must have one (1) year experience in business office with health care accounting
  4. Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft software including Excel and Word required.
  5. Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills as well as strong analytical, organizational skills and medical terminology
  6. Must represent the Hospital well to patients and to the community.
  7. Duties require intermittent walking, sitting, standing, pulling, bending, stooping and reaching to perform tasks and be able to lift objects that may weigh as much as 50 lbs. and to push/pull carts which may weigh as much as 100 pounds.
